Family Fun Day

A day of fun for everyone.

There in front of Colby Memorial Temple in Cassadaga Spiritualist Camp stood a castle of sorts – blue and red with four turrets. It was not made of stone, but vinyl. Yes, that’s right. It was a bounce house.
Family Fun Day was July 13, 2019, and we continue to celebrate our 125th year. This event was a fundraiser for Colby Memorial Temple. We have plenty more throughout the year.
In addition to the bounce house, there was a reverse dunk tank toward the side of Colby Memorial Temple. Young and old enjoyed bouncing and soaking others.

Also on Stevens Street, an hourly rubber ducky race on the slip and slide was a sight to see. Inside the Andrew Jackson Davis Educational Building, an ice cream social ensued. There was cotton candy and popcorn. Loads of people, again young and old, enjoyed getting their faces painted.
Children pulled up a chair for crafts – creating a paper sunflower, planting a sunflower seed in a small biodegradable container and coloring a picture. The sunflower is the international symbol of Spiritualism.
This could not have been done without the dozen or so volunteers, who planned and manned the stations for the four hour event. We are grateful for those who volunteered and attended. The event went over so well that we’re thinking about adding more children’s activities to our quarterly Gala Day events.

Regular services that take place in the Colby Temple include Sunday Service with anywhere from 65 to 100 in attendance, Wednesday Night Message Service with anywhere from 20 to 50 in attendance, Candlelight Healing with anywhere from 20 to 30 in attendance, classes and workshops.
The Spiritualist Camp, which has been around since 1894, has a Board of Trustees and many committees, all volunteers. We need the community’s help in raising funds.
