Blithe Spirit

9/18/2019

The air was abuzz with excitement when about 20 students and their fearless leader, Miss Sejansky, came to perform Blithe Spirit scenes on Saturday, Sept. 14, in the meeting hall, which is part of Andrew Jackson Davis Educational Building, at Cassadaga Spiritualist Camp.
Blithe Spirit, a comedic play written by Noel Coward, makes fun of the Spirit World, but in the end it is proven to be real.
The show lasted about an hour and a half. Roles changed throughout, which really showed the talent of these students. Nearly 30 came out to see the show. Proceeds from the event were split between DeLand High School’s drama program and Colby Memorial Temple Restoration Fund. The event is part of the 125th celebration of the Spiritualist Camp.
In addition, a couple of bookstore gift baskets, 30 minute readings and various healing modalities were raffled off with proceeds going to the Colby Memorial Temple Fund.
In the beginning, the Blithe Spirit scenes were to be performed on the platform of Colby Memorial Temple. It was quite a switch up in space when the Temple was closed for restoration and repairs. The students and Miss Sejansky made adjustments and all played out without a hitch.
Our next events include the First Saturday History Series on Oct. 5 with the Rev. Dr. Louis Gates speaking about phenomena to include table tipping, phenomena circles and channeling.
Table Tipping/Spirit Crawl is scheduled for Oct. 19 in the Andrew Jackson Davis Educational Building. Table tipping is 6-8 p.m. for $25 and the Spirit Crawl is from 8 p.m. to midnight. It is $60. Come be your own investigator. Access to four spirit filled locations. Mobile paranormal equipment welcome. 40 Limit. Call the bookstore to reserve your spot 386-228-2880.
